Emir Kusturica was awarded the prestigious South African prize Mkiva Humanitarian Awards – 2018

HRH  Zolani Mkiva, the King of African poetry, President of the African Delphic Council arrived in Drvengrad to the «Kustendorf» festival to award honorary South African awards Emir Kusturica. The Director was Awarded the Mkiva Humanitarian Awards (South Africa),  humanitarian reward for peacekeeping and charitable activities. Earlier, in different years, the awards were awarded to Nelson Mandela, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Olaf Palma, Salim Ahmed Salim, Yasser Arafat.

n 2015, this award was awarded to the Chairman of the CC IPM “We love Russia”, Vice-President of the International Foundition for sustainable peace and development Mikhail Zernov. Until Today, he was the only winner of MHA in Europe-CIS-Russia.

The prize will be awarded tomorrow Kusturica at the closing «Kustendorf» personally by HRH Zolani Mkiva.

Mkiva noted that they decided that the name of the famous Director  «spreads like an echo in South Africa thanks to the good stories that have affected millions of people outside their homeland.»

 

«We find a good emotional beginning in his films that touches our souls and we are pleased to present him with the award that is one of the highest honors that come from the African continent,” said HRH Zolani Mkiva in a statement to Tanjugu and RTS.

The prize has been awarded since 1999 year and its first winner was Nelson Mandela.

“Emir Kusturica has never performed in Africa, but his work transcends borders, and his work resonates in the hearts of many people around the world. Therefore, we decided to take part in «Kustendorf», which is a symbol of His work.”
